Thames Valley University (TVU)
Thames Valley University (TVU) is a British university, which is located in the west area of London. The history of the Thames Valley University started in the year of 1860 with the establishment of the Lady Byron School. Nowadays this school is the Ealing campus of the Thames Valley University. When some time past after the foundation of the Lady Byron School, it was transferred into Ealing College of Higher Education.
In 1907, the Slough campus was created as an elementary school and in 1970, it became Thames Valley College of Higher Education.
In the year of 1990, Thames Valley College of Higher Education, Ealing College of Higher Education, the London College of Music, and Queen Charlotte’s College of Health Care Studies were joined together and became the Polytechnic of West London.
After two years of the existing of the Polytechnic, it became a university under the Further and Higher Education Act of the year of 1992. The name of the Thames Valley University was given to it.
The University joined with the Reading College and School of Arts and Design in 2004, and due to the merge and all the previous merges, Thames Valley University is considered to be a rather large educational institution according the standards of UK.
